When clients are not physically present in my office (e.g., therapy by telephone ) I take extra precautions to meet my responsibilities to clients. Prior to utilizing electronic therapy, I consider the appropriateness and suitability of this therapeutic modality to the clients needs. When therapy occurs by electronic means, I inform patients of the potential risks, consequences, and benefits, including but not limited to, issues of confidentiality, clinical limitations, transmission difficulties, and ability to respond to emergencies. I ensure that such therapy complies with the informed consent requirements of the California Telemedicine Act. Fees for phone therapy include a one time in person assessment fee of $155. If phone therapy is suitable for the client's unique situation, each 30 min phone session is $65.
